Four Reasons to Praise the Lord

by Pastor Ken

Psalm 107:8-9

Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men! For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good.

In today’s verses, the psalmist gives us four reasons to praise the Lord.

  1. His loving kindness resulted in the gift of salvation through Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection which eliminates death, providing us with the opportunity of spending eternity with Him.

  2. His wonderful deeds in our lives include provisions for daily living and praying for us (Romans 8:34).

  3. He satisfies the longings of our soul. The Lord is that elusive “thing” we all look for to bring fulfillment and satisfaction. We can look anywhere and everywhere on Earth, but true satisfaction is found only in Him.

  4. With God, we lack for nothing. Jesus feeds your hungry soul with food from the Kingdom of God (Matthew 5:3). He offers an abundance of life through a wealth of blessings we don’t deserve but which He desperately wants to give (John 10:10).

We worry less when we praise more.

Praise is the rehearsal of your eternal song. By grace, you learn to sing. Let us continually praise God because we have the countless blessings of His loving care. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).

Reflection

Do I believe I will worry less if I praise God more? Am I willing to put my belief to the test?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your kindness, Your wonderful deeds, for satisfying my soul, and for Your abundant blessings. For these things I will praise You forever! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
