The LORD’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
“Melissa” and her family live in a big house, have a mid-six-figure income, and live a lifestyle that reflects their material wealth. But “Melissa” knows her husband has cheated on her more than once and her youngest daughter spent last summer in a rehab facility to help her deal with a serious eating disorder.
“Dana” is a stay-at-home-mom to her four children and her husband works as a law enforcement officer. His salary is sufficient to cover their needs and provide a few extras now and then, but vacations consist of camping trips, the three girls share a bedroom, and they have family movie nights in their back yard instead of going to the theater. But “Dana” and her husband have a marriage built on love, trust, and faithfulness to God and to one another.
So who is experiencing the wealth of God’s blessings—a wealth with no trouble added to it?
Wealth is about so much more than dollars and cents. Wealth is abundance. Even an abundance of pain makes you ‘pain wealthy.’ But the wealth that comes with the LORD’s blessings doesn’t include trouble. The wealth that comes from the LORD doesn’t cause heartache or stress and it never tempts you to put anything you have or do in a position of greater importance than God.
Prayer: LORD, please open my heart and mind to desire true wealth—the wealth of Your blessings.
