Just Enough

by Darla Noble

Hebrews 13:5

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”

Over 20,000 people a year committed suicide during the years of the Great Depression. The reason: overwhelming hopelessness because of the loss of their money and material possessions. Now while the Great Depression was truly a devastating and harrowing period of time in our history that should never be minimalized, the fact remains that the hopelessness that led to so many taking their own life was erroneous and senseless.

God promises us over and over again in His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us. We may not always have what we want or what we think we should have, but when we place our hope in God we will always have just enough. We may not always have a consistent supply of money and material possessions, but when we place our hope in God—the only real source of hope—we will always have just enough.

Pray: Dear God, I ask today that You make my heart content with what You give me and that I never lose hope in You. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
