And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
When my wife and I were newly married, I was living in South Korea and she was living in Europe.
It was incredibly difficult to be apart. Praying for each other helped. Our letters and phone calls to each other helped. But there were days when I missed her so much that I sought solitude at the base of a mountain and sang to her as if she could hear me.
And then the day finally came when we were reunited. I cannot even begin to describe the joy we felt when we were finally able to be together again.
Through this experience, I feel I got a glimpse into the heart of Jesus with regards to the anticipation He feels about having us all together as one big family in heaven. He wants to be with us as much as, if not more than, we do!
My wife and I had to make arrangements and prepare to be reunited. So we must also make ready for Jesus’ return. He is preparing a place for us even now and asks that we, too, prepare for Him.
“If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you,” He warns (Revelation 3:3).
Join me in watching and waiting as we prepare to be reunited for eternity!
What does it mean for me to prepare to be ready to see Jesus’ glorious coming?
Dear God, Please help me live in such a way that I will be ready for Your return. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
