Giving Credit Where Credit is Due

Psalm 103:2-5
Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
I have to be honest with you. I need some good things to happen in my life.
People I dearly love have hurt me deeply and feel no remorse. It’s not the first time they’ve done this, and because I’ve always just let it go and went on as if nothing happened, I’m sure that’s what they expect this time.
But this time I am asking God to bless me with something better than that.
I am asking God to bless me with healing from the disease of self-doubt. I am asking Him to bless me with people in my life who treat me with the same kindness and mercy I show them and others. I am asking Him to let me feel the peace and joy that comes from knowing I am living a life that pleases Him, so I can soar above the hurt and heartache. I am asking Him to satisfy my desire for good things with what He knows is best for me.
I am asking Him to do the same for you.
We all have ideas of what good things we want God to bless us with, but the best things we can ask Him for are the things He knows are good for us.
Reflection
What are the desires of my heart? How might God satisfy those desires with things He knows are good? How will I feel if God’s blessings to me differ from those I covet for myself?
Prayer
Dear God, Please heal my heart from sin and selfishness. Bless me with the things that create in me a good and clean heart so I can be more like You. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
