If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.
A name is a powerful thing.
We have a friend whose name is gold in certain circles. Knowing his name has given us new friends, a voice with professionals, and an open door to hospitality. Everyone should know someone like him!
But friends with stellar reputations, even kings and presidents, have limits on their power. Money has a ceiling; so does time and human wisdom.
But there is a name with limitless wisdom attached to it: Jesus. His name has influence in any circle, in any situation. He has all the resources at His command. He knows the best timing for those things we want and possesses the perfect wisdom for when and how to give them to us.
Of course, we don’t call our “golden friend” because we want something from him; we call because we enjoy his company. Likewise with God, when we maintain our friendship out of love, we benefit from His power and wisdom.
Genuine friendship with God allows those requests we so desperately pray about to be heard. And our Friend God, in His great wisdom, will grant us what is best, which is ultimately what we really want.
What am I eager for God to give me?
Dear God, I trust You to love me, to hear me, and to do what is best for me. I trust how You answer my prayers. I believe that You are doing what is best. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
