For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.
The leader of my daughter’s Bible study group recently made a comment that was clearly out of line with what the Bible has to say. She quoted from a book she had read and followed the comment by asking what everyone else thought.
My daughter, who is fairly new to the community and the church, hesitated, but finally decided she needed to speak up. She said, “I’ve never seen that in scripture. In fact, I’ve read just the opposite.” She then went on to read the verses that contradicted what the leader had presented.
Everyone in the group received my daughter’s correction — even thanking her for bringing it to their attention.
They received it well because it was presented out of a sincere heart and a desire for everyone to know God’s truth. It was presented in humility. And most importantly, it was God’s truth — not my daughter’s opinion.
The wisdom God gives us is His wisdom. So when we speak God’s wisdom, even those who try to contradict us won’t be able to — not for long, anyway.
Don’t ever be afraid to speak God’s truth. Just be sure you do it with a God-like heart: one full of love and the desire to share the truth for the sake of the souls of those who hear it.
To whom do I need to speak God’s truth this week? How can I do it without being offensive?
Dear Lord, Thank You for Your discernment and wisdom. Please give me the courage to use my voice to speak Your truth in love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
