Wonderful Words

by Pastor Ken

Jeremiah 15:16

Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, the LORD, God of Hosts.

As a child, I was exposed to superstitious beliefs. The horrors and the memories of such evil are forever embedded in my mind.

But then one day I heard a young preacher sharing the truth of God’s love straight from the Bible. I knew immediately that I wanted what that preacher was offering. I wanted Jesus!

I wanted to know as much as I could about the Man who died for my sins. When I asked how I could do that, the preacher told me everything I needed to know was in the Bible; if I read and studied the Bible, God would give me a heart and mind to take it all in.

Since that day, I have not been able to stop reading and studying the Bible. The more I read and listen to the Word of God, the more I realize I cannot live without it. Indeed, the Word of God brings more joy into my life than anything else.

Abraham Lincoln said this about the Bible, “Take all that you can of this book upon reason, and the balance on faith, and you will live and die a happier man.”

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve experienced it first-hand in my life. I hope you do too!

Reflection

How can I make studying my Bible even more of a habit?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Please help me to read Your Word, meditate on it, and make it the foundation of my life so I can be a living testimony to people around me. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray, Amen.
