I was on the brink of death on Valentine’s Day.

It was my senior year of college and I was sick. I took some medication to help ease the pain of my illness and had an allergic reaction to it which landed me in an induced coma for almost a week. When I woke up from the coma, I realized that I had just experienced God’s grace.

There was no reason for me to survive that ordeal.

While having the allergic reaction, I wanted only to take a nap and bemoan the fact that another year had passed without a Valentine. But my sister encouraged me to go back to the school clinic. While on my way, a friend gave me a ride and got me there in the nick of time.

I am alive by God’s grace.

So are you.

God’s grace shows up all around us. If we’re paying attention, we’ll soon realize that we’re surrounded by it. When we give our lives to God, our sins are no match for His grace because grace has a way of overshadowing our sins.

The more we lean into God, the more His love and mercy empowers us to face our sins instead of running away from them. Today, I’m so glad that God’s grace covers us.
