The Good Life

by Sam

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

In today’s verse, God lays out the steps of what we need to have a good life: one that is fulfilling and satisfying.

Act Justly We are not to enforce our own version of justice. We are to treat others as we want to be treated. We are to feed and clothe our enemies as to turn them into friends. We are to let go of our vengeance and leave it to God.

Love Mercy Mercy is choosing to not mete out what is deserved. God calls us to forgive people who don’t deserve it or ask for it. We are to give second chances to those who messed up. We are to see in everyone a sinful, learning, child of God.

Walk Humbly with God In our own strength, we would not be able to act justly and love mercy continuously. Only through linking ourselves with Jesus and letting Him guide our thoughts, actions, and lives, can we do what He asks.

We should remember that the only power we have is the power to choose God. Everything else comes from God’s help, along with our efforts.

If you want a good life, ask Jesus to transform you today.

Reflection

What are two ways I can act justly today? What two ways can I show that I love mercy today?

Prayer

Dear Jesus, Please come into my heart today. Transform me to follow Your justice and to have Your mercy. Help me to realize that we are all sinners in need of Your grace. Thank You for walking with me. In Your name I pray, Amen.
