Let my accusers be disappointed and consumed. Let them be covered with disgrace and scorn who want to harm me. But I will always hope, and will add to all of your praise. My mouth will tell about your righteousness, and of your salvation all day, though I don’t know its full measure.
A tightrope walker explained to someone how he could perform so easily. The secret, he said, was to keep his eyes fixed on where he was going. Where his eyes went, his body followed. If he were to look down, he would fall.
This same principle is true in your life now.
Don’t look down, living in self-pity and complaining that life is not fair. Keep your eyes on where you are going — the higher level Jesus wants you to be. Think of what you want to accomplish with the all-powerful God on your side. Tell others how He has done great wonders for your salvation. Say how you will reach far greater dreams with Him.
Never focus on where you are now; instead, focus on your lifetime goals as if you have already reached them. The Psalmist knew this when he wrote today’s verses: “I will always hope, and will add to all of Your praise.” We can sing God’s praises too, while claiming every promise and blessing from Him in the Bible.
I highly recommend Jesus’ way — to get your eyes off your problems and onto Jesus who can do everything for you.
Even when Jesus’ accusers were shouting, “Crucify him!” Jesus didn’t hate or hold a grudge against them. What can I do to have this kind of attitude toward those who don’t like me?
Dear God, When I am surrounded by difficult situations, please help me to fix my eyes on Jesus so I may reach the full potential You placed within me. I will sing Your praises and tell of Your salvation for as long as I live. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
