They took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!”
Picture it: being in the presence of Jesus with the crowds celebrating Jesus as King in the streets of Jerusalem. Can you feel the excitement? The crowd is shouting, “Hosanna!”— an expression of joy and praise for deliverance.
Today is also a day you can shout, “Hosanna!” because today is a day to experience the joy of Jesus. Jesus’ desire is for each of us to experience the only real joy—joy found in Him. As John 15:11 says, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
Listen David’s poetic joy,
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them sing joyful praises forever.
Spread your protection over them,
that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
Again he expressed his joy so eloquently,
I know the LORD is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety.
Prayer: Hosanna to the LORD! Thank you for the joy found only in You. In the joyful name of Jesus, I pray, amen.
