For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hellen Keller says, “Unless we form the habit of going to the Bible in bright moments as well as in trouble, we cannot fully respond to its consolations because we lack equilibrium between light and darkness.”
Miss Keller was correct. The Bible is for all people at all times. The message of truth that is the Bible has transformed millions of people throughout history; bringing them to the truth of who God is and accepting the gift of salvation through Jesus’ death on the cross. And as a result of their new-found faith, countless people have lived obediently and abundantly in the blessings God pours out on those who give their lives to Him.
When you read the Bible ask God to make the words speak to you and come alive in you. Ask God to let the words of the Bible feed your heart, soul, and mind so that you can fully understand what Jesus meant when He said, “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4 NLT).
Prayer: God, please give me the desire to make time for reading the Bible each day and open my heart, soul, and mind to the message and meaning of the words I read. In the name of Jesus, I pray, amen.
