Magic. Make-believe. They make the impossible possible.

Perhaps that’s why magical people, animals, and things have made their way into stories as long as tales were told. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks had magical gods. Indigenous cultures saw magic in nature. Fairy tales exist all over the world.

It’s thrilling when anything can happen. But the impossible isn’t just fiction. It’s a story we can be a part of, too!

Jesus’ ministry teemed with impossibilities. At a time when there was no television, internet, or newspapers, Jesus’ popularity spread like a flood. Scripture says that people traveled from city to city just to see what He would say and do. Blind eyes opened. Paralyzed limbs received strength. The sick were healed. Tax money was retrieved from a fish’s mouth. A storm dissipated. Water became wine. A loaf of bread became a feast. Feet walked on water. A net of fish overflowed from a seemingly empty lake.

With Jesus, nothing was impossible.

Our all-powerful God doesn’t need magic; He alone is power. When facing impossibilities in our lives, the messes in marriages, the complications of teens, the burdens of work, the constant need for money, the decay of health, we know that our God can work wonders. It’s not magic, it’s majesty. He can do anything!
