Enjoy God’s Peace

by Heather Tietz

Isaiah 62:1-3

For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning lamp. The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. You will be called by a new name, which the LORD’s mouth will name. You will also be a crown of beauty in the LORD’s hand, and a royal diadem in your God’s hand.

Isaiah was God’s messenger to the Israelites.

He longed for them to not only be God’s people in name, but in character as well. He loved them so much, he refused to be silent. He could not “hold his peace.”

He pleaded with them. He reprimanded and encouraged them. He urged the wayward people to put God first, to choose a better path — one that would lead to international acclaim and a nationwide renaissance.

We can be the voice of Isaiah too.

For Jesus’ sake, don’t hold your peace. Speak light to those around you — your children, your spouse, friends, and the strangers you interact with throughout the day. Encourage their goodness. Give words of hope. Speak blessing. Help them see how much God loves them. He desires them in His kingdom. Shine so that they might shine for God too.

Enjoy God’s Prince of Peace — Jesus — in every moment of your life (Isaiah 9:6). You can be strong, for you have the peace He promised: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful” (John 14:27).

Reflection

How can I fully enjoy God’s peace — Jesus — every moment of my life?

Prayer

Loving God, Thank You for Your Word, which guides me in the way I need to go. Please give me a vision for Your people. Help me see the world through Your eyes. And give me the courage to speak up for You when I should. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
