For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning lamp.
Isaiah was God’s messenger to the Israelites. His heart was for them to not only be God’s people by name, but by character. He reprimanded them. He pleaded with them. He encouraged them, “Love righteousness. Live righteousness. Shine. Be the lamp upon the hill. Be the light that draws the world out of darkness. Be an adornment to God, a crown, a diadem, a treasure. Let Him transform you, rebirth you, make you new as an image of Him so changed from the sinful person of your past that you are nearly unrecognizable. You are new; you need a new name.”
We can be the voice of Isaiah too. For Jesus’ sake, don’t hold your peace. Give it away! Don’t rest from speaking light to those around you – your children, your spouse, your friends, the strangers you interact with throughout the day. Encourage their goodness. Give words of hope. Speak blessing. Help them see God loves them. He desires them in His kingdom. Shine so that they might shine for God too.
Enjoy God’s peace - Jesus - in every moment of your life (Isaiah 9:6). You can be really strong for you have the peace Jesus promised: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful” (John 14:27).
