Making God Your Top Priority

by Pastor Ken and Joyverse

Matthew 4:10

Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’ ”

In the wilderness, far from human help, the devil promised Jesus the world, if He would bow down and recognize Satan’s sovereignty.

Jesus never entertained the temptation. Instead, He quoted Scripture, destroying the devil’s argument with God’s Word. Jesus spent close, personal time with God. He made God — His heavenly Father — His top priority.

Jesus routinely spent time with God, talking to Him in prayer, getting to know Him through studying the Scriptures, and worshiping. He is our example. Like Him, we too can have a close relationship with God.

When you take time to get to know God personally and intimately through prayer, Bible study, and worship, God will reveal Himself, His ways, and His purpose for you.

When you obey God, He will accomplish great things through you. As the Lord works in and through your life, you will want to do more and more for Him. When you make God your top priority, you will enjoy a life filled with His grace, love, and power — beyond anything the world has to offer.

Reflection

How will I plan to have close, personal time with God today?

Prayer

Dear God, I want my focus to be on You. Help me as I seek to know You more completely. I willingly give myself to You, allowing You to be the Lord of my life. Please help me make You my top priority. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
