You shall do that which is right and good in the LORD’s sight, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore to your fathers.
Solomon reminded us of the importance of living like this in Ecclesiastes 8:11 when he says a crime that goes unpunished leads people to believe it is okay to do wrong. Somehow, though, our society has lost sight of Solomon’s wisdom and the commandments of the LORD.
To do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD means to conduct your life as if God is closely watching and listening to everything you say and do—which in fact, He does. And when we live this way, God promises things will go well for us.
Even though no one else may recognize (or care) what you do, God does and it won’t go unnoticed. He promises if you do what is good and right in His sight, all would go well with you.
This doesn’t guarantee a life of health, wealth, and prosperity because these things aren’t always in line with a ‘well life’ in God. But when God is pleased with your life you will be blessed!
So as you go about the day to day process of living, don’t forget that God is watching, caring, and preparing to bless you for doing what is good and right.
