In Search of Spiritual Health

by Katelyn Molloy

Jeremiah 33:6

Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.

Have you ever made a New Year’s Resolution to eat healthier or exercise more?

I know I have.

These things, if put into practice, can help our bodily health; but what about our spiritual health?

In the same way that our bodies need nutritious food and exercise, our spirit, too, needs feeding and strengthening. This can only happen when we spend more time with God, meditate on His Word, and communicate with Him through prayer.

Every morning, we have the opportunity to commit to growing spiritually. To do so, devote some time to talk to God. Throughout the day, read and meditate on His Word.

You might want to invest in a study Bible or start a prayer journal (or use the journal included with this app). Perhaps you could even create a prayer room in your home.

No matter what else you do, seek God’s face every day and the rest will fall into place.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

Reflection

What steps will I resolve to take today — and continue taking throughout this week — to improve my spiritual fitness?

Prayer

Dear Creator, I want to know You better and love You more. I want to be spiritually healthy, as well as physically and mentally healthy. Please help me to speak with You daily, as well as read and meditate on Your Word. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me slow down and seek Your face every day. Thank You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
