Perfect Hearing

by Darla Noble

2 Samuel 22:7

In my distress, I called on the LORD. Yes, I called to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple. My cry came into his ears.

With the help and support of my family, I spent several years caring for my Granny, who had Alzheimer’s.

Granny was one of my best friends. Though she suffered from a horrible disease, when it comes to counting my blessings, those years were among the best of my life. As Granny always put it, “We’re two peas in a pod.”

Because tending to the sick and wounded was not one of my gifts, I prayed every day for courage and wisdom to do what was necessary and best for this woman who was my best friend. And God came through for me in big and mighty ways!

Most importantly, though, was the prayer I prayed non-stop. Every. Single. Day. I told God I would gladly do anything He needed me to for Granny, but that I needed Him to do something for me, during this “process.” I needed Him to make sure Granny always knew me — that she never failed to know who I was. Not ever.

He heard my cry of distress and call for help. And God was GOOD! He blessed me for my faithfulness to Granny and to Him.

He hears you, too. Lift your voice up to Him, crying out in fear, or in anger, or in distress. Tell Him how you feel. Then ask Him to help you heal.

Reflection

What do I need God to do in my life? I will cry out to Him in my distress and ask Him for guidance today.

Prayer

Thank You, God, for hearing my cries. Thank You for caring. For listening. For answering. For loving. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
