The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.
Getting ready for vacation can be tiresome.
One summer we swapped houses with a French family we met online. We cleaned every corner. We hid personal things, fragile toys, and all our private documents. We stocked our fridge with California wine, French cheeses and American foods like peanut butter. Then finally after months of preparation, we were ready to take a well-earned rest.
We look so forward to vacations, don’t we? We are eager for the weekend, for summer break, for our day off. Sometimes we live as if the freedom and fun are out there, at the end of our week, at the end of the school year, at the end of our life. But we are living our lives NOW. We don’t need to wait.
If we have Jesus, we have a life now!
Eternal life has already begun. If we have claimed God’s Son, if Jesus is our role model, then we have God’s eternal life in us.
We don’t have to wait for peace, for hope, for rest, for joy, or for the ability to love. The things we think of when we imagine heaven are available to us now.
What part of eternal life do I feel is most lacking? I will pray for God to grow that joy, peace, hope or love in me.
Dear God, Thank You for my life. Thank You for every moment You have allowed me to live on this earth. Thank You, too, for the promise of a life that never ends, sharing eternity with You. Please fill me with Your Spirit today and every day. In Jesus’ dear name I pray, Amen.
