Music to God’s Ears

by Darla Noble

Psalm 100:1-2

Shout for joy to the LORD, all you lands! Serve the LORD with gladness. Come before his presence with singing.

King David didn’t let his wife’s embarrassment and ridicule keep him from singing and dancing in the streets in praise to God (2 Samuel 6:14-23).

Paul and Silas didn’t let being chained inside a cold, damp, musty jail cell keep them from praising God at the top of their lungs. The guards didn’t understand their ‘madness’, but they couldn’t help but be impressed by their faith (Acts 16:25-34).

Daniel didn’t let the threat of death keep him from serving and praising God.

David, Paul, Silas, Daniel, and countless others have shouted in joy to the Lord and served Him with gladness without worrying about any possible negative consequences. They knew that no matter what happened to them, God would bless them for their faithfulness.

You can live with that same assurance, too.

Shouting out to the Lord with joy, serving Him gladly, and coming into His presence with gladness and thanksgiving will always result in receiving God’s blessings — blessings that are far more wonderful than anything we can do for ourselves. And God’s blessings always make the trials of this life bearable and less troubling.

Shout… serve… sing!

Reflection

I will share some of the good things God has done in my life, either on social media accounts, or face to face with someone I know. What are some other ways I can praise God every day this week?

Prayer

Dear God, I want to praise You in all circumstances. When I come before You, I ask that You always put a song in my heart. You are my joy and my salvation. I want to serve You with gladness, regardless of what trials and hardships I might be experiencing. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
