Applying a Messianic Promise to Your Life

by Pastor Ken and Joyverse

Isaiah 42:5-6

God the LORD, he who created the heavens and stretched them out, he who spread out the earth and that which comes out of it, he who gives breath to its people and spirit to those who walk in it, says: “I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness. I will hold your hand. I will keep you, and make you a covenant for the people, as a light for the nations.”

My three year-old son darted ahead of the shopping cart, running out the door of the grocery store.

“Hold my hand,” I said.

Blinking into the bright sunlight reflecting off the cars in the parking lot, my son came by my side. Without a word of complaint, he reached up and took my hand, his small fingers surrounded by my own.

“Where is our car?” he asked.

I pointed it out. His bright eyes swept the lot, but from his vantage point, he couldn’t see our vehicle.

As traffic drove by us, I led the way toward our car. Since my son held my hand, he reached his destination safely, even though he couldn’t see the way there on his own.

God, the creator, and master of the universe, knows the path that is best for us. He loves us so much that He is always ready to hold our hands and guide us, if we will allow Him.

With God leading, we can freely let His light shine through us, illuminating the way for others to follow.

Reflection

What kind of light does my life bring to those who are in darkness?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Your directions are always right because You always know what is best. Please give me the strength and courage I need to submit myself completely to You. Hold my hand. Guide me. Make me the light You created me to be. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
