But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
My life was great.
I had recently gotten engaged and moved into a nicer apartment. I loved my teaching position and my coworker friends.
Then I learned I was out of a job!
My father asked some of his friends and got me a job that required long hours, weekends, and frequent moves. I felt peace even though I didn’t know how my life would be with such a job. Every time I prayed for guidance, the answer I got was “wait.”
I moved up to the city and went to start work, but they told me I was there a day early. As I was putting my things away in temporary housing, a phone call came from one of the area schools, asking for an interview.
Not only did I get the job, but it also came with an even nicer apartment close to where my fiancée worked.
Though my fiancée and I studied the Bible, meditated, and prayed to God for guidance the whole time, two months passed before God opened the door for a better job. This experience taught me the truth behind today’s verse.
God calls us to believe, trust, and wait on Him to work through and with us. Only then He can give us strength.
What do I most long for? Strength and endurance? Patience and peace? I will claim today’s verse and ask God to give me these things today.
Dear God, Please help me to see that when one door is closed, You will open another door that is far better than I thought. Please grant me patience to wait on You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
