But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them. From infancy, you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.
When you read the question asking about your inheritance, did you immediately say to yourself, “Nothing? My parents are still alive.” Or, “They had nothing to leave me?”
I never thought my father left me anything until about a year ago. Shortly after I was born, my father disappeared. If he wouldn’t have gone, my entire family could have died in retaliation because he was accused of being a traitor. I didn’t know this until last year. But now I am thankful. My inheritance from him was my life.
My life is also my children’s inheritance from their grandfather, even though they never knew him.
Today is Grandparent’s Day. If you know your grandparents, take some time today to let them know you love them and are thankful for the heritage of your family’s history. Likewise, encourage your children to do the same for their grandparents, your parents.
And above all, make sure you spend time thanking your heavenly Parent, God, for the inheritance He has given you.
What can I do for my grandparents today? If I do not have grandparents, what can I do that is special for someone elderly in my church, my neighborhood, or a local nursing home?
Dear God, Thank You for the gift of grandparents. Help me to let the influential people in my life know how much they mean to me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
