When the kids were small, one of our favorite things to do was to play hide-n-seek.

With the outbuildings, trees, and things on our farm, we had a plethora of great hiding places to choose from. It sure was fun!

I remember when Emma, the youngest, decided she was old enough to play. Normally her older siblings’ little darling, she suddenly became about as popular as strep throat because she wanted to hide with one of them. But she invariably gave their hiding spot away by making too much noise, or even shouting, “You can’t find us!”

Emma soon had to find her own hiding place, which she did with confidence. But her style of playing hide-n-seek was to crouch down on the ground, cover her head with her arms, and just stay there. In plain sight.

Needless to say, it didn’t take much to find her. It was okay, though. She was having fun, she was part of the game, and no one else had to suffer being found because of her.

When I think of Emma’s style of playing the game, I can’t help but think God plays hide-n-seek the very same way. He hides in plain sight; making it incredibly easy to find Him.

All we have to do is turn in His direction.
