Saved and Called

by Pastor Ken

2 Timothy 1:9-10

Who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.” — C. S. Lewis

It is so exciting to know that God created us, saved us, and has called us with a holy calling according to His purpose and grace.

Yes, each of us has a special purpose.

What is that purpose? Why are you here?

The primary purpose for all of us is to praise God and to live our lives in such a way here on earth that we can spend eternity in heaven with God the Father and Jesus the Son. More specifically, your purpose (and mine) is to show the world who Jesus is by what we say, what we do and how we live. We are to share the good news of salvation through Jesus.

When we live this way, we can rest assured in this perfect promise from Jesus; “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die” (John 11:25-26).

What a joy it is to be a part of such an amazing plan!

Reflection

What is my “holy calling?” What do I feel God is leading me to do?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Thank You for making me part of Your plan. Thank You for saving me. Thank You for calling me to serve. I look forward to sharing heaven with You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
