I have trust issues.

If I’m completely honest, sometimes, trusting God is HARD.

I’m the type of person who enjoys surprise parties, but has a difficult time coping with the surprises life throws my way. Interestingly, God has a way of changing my plans and catching me off guard. It’s in those moments that I’m made aware of my need to trust God wholeheartedly and to disregard my preconceived ideas of how things are “supposed to be.”

In life, we have two options: trust God or trust our own understanding. In this passage from Proverbs, King Solomon encourages us to forego our limited viewpoint and trust the Omniscient God, who sees the end from the beginning.

Trusting God is a process. It’s not easy, especially when things don’t go our way and the trials of life overwhelm us.

But it’s in those moments that we must lean on God’s all-encompassing understanding and not our own finite understanding. By trusting God, we give Him permission to lead us in a straight path when life gets crooked. Believe me, life gets crooked more often than we’d like to admit, but in order to experience the fullness of God, we need to trust Him with an open heart. When we do, He’ll straighten our paths and lead us closer to Him.
