God’s Grace Helps Me Measure Up

by Katelyn Molloy

Luke 2:40

The child was growing, and was becoming strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

I’m an impatient person.

I tend to get frustrated with myself when I can’t move forward in the ways I want to. I find myself comparing my life to others’ and getting upset when it seems that I don’t measure up.

In times like these, it’s easy to start blaming God for our shortcomings — to ask Him why He made us this way and to question His plan for our lives.

We might look at other people’s lives and get discouraged when we don’t measure up. But God’s standards are not our standards. When we feel discouraged, we need to tell God all our troubles and ask for His help to trust that He’s in control. Most importantly, we need to trust that His love and grace are stronger than our shortcomings. As long as we are alive, God’s grace works upon us.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I challenge you today to start trusting that God will get you to where He needs you to be.

Reflection

What are some things that I need to bring to God and let His grace cover today?

Prayer
