God’s words live.

Genesis says that God SPOKE the universe into existence.

His words, not His hands, made air, water, plants and animals. His words are not simply sounds. They’re not just ink on paper. They have the dexterity of scientific tools. They are power-filled actions that can craft quarks, push atoms, organize DNA, and command cells.

Remember the story of the Roman centurion. This commander of a hundred men came to Jesus asking for his servant to be made well.

“Just say the word,” the centurion said to Jesus. “He will be healed.”

Jesus simply spoke. Scripture says that at that very hour the servant was healed.

When Jesus spoke, bacteria died, viruses deactivated, skin healed, eyes opened, dead limbs revived, storms calmed. Jesus’ power-filled words, like tools in a doctor’s hands, could restore anything to the way God intended.

God’s Word still holds power. And today it is ours!

His words are ours to read, sing, speak and pray. We can claim them. They are a gift we can use to weld power where we need it, to create peace in turmoil, to create hope in distress, to lift spirits, give courage, give direction, convict, comfort. God’s words in our mouths can calm storms in us and around us too.
