What if your new co-worker was actually your boss?

That’s the premise of the Emmy-award winning show, “Undercover Boss,” in which corporate executives go undercover within their companies to discover how employees truly feel about working for the organization.

In the series, hidden cameras follow undercover bosses as they experience low-level jobs within the company, doing day-to-day activities that keep the business running. By doing so, they gain a better appreciation for the employees, gauge the strengths and weaknesses of the company, and build camaraderie amongst each other.

I’ll never forget one of the episodes in which an employee recognized the undercover boss through their disguise!

In the Gospel of John, we find a scenario that is reminiscent of “Undercover Boss,” when the Word of God, who spoke everything into existence, came down and became a human being in order to save us.

Jesus, the source of everything that exists, the ultimate “Undercover Boss,” came to this sinful world as a humble servant and took on our sins to give us access to eternal life. He put a human face on God’s matchless grace.

Some recognized him. Some who lived in darkness saw God’s marvelous light. Today, we too can experience God’s grace and truth through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
