In many cultures, the bride wears a veil on her wedding day. The veil distorts the bride’s vision, hiding the face of the groom. Only when they are united in marriage does the veil fall away.

A life without God also distorts our vision from what is real. We learn to become selfish from an early age. Being judgmental of others brings bitterness into our existence. We strive for more, sometimes hurting others in the process. We want the next best thing, never satisfied, always trying to outdo others.

God gave us His only begotten Son to save us from ourselves.

Jesus came as a human man, yet was also divine, giving of Himself to all. Jesus paid the price that we should have endured, saving us from total damnation.

Our lives change when we turn to God. The veil that distorts our vision of our lives’ real purpose comes off, and we see life in its most real meaning. We now see those less fortunate than ourselves in a loving manner. We are concerned about those who have nothing to eat and inadequate clothing to wear.

We clearly see that the promise Jesus came to give to the world becomes our hope for a better life in this world, and the eternal security given to us.
