Me, Myself, and God

by Darla Noble

If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:1-3

What is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you? I honestly don’t think I can pick just one thing. Between my Granny loving me like no one else could (except Jesus), and the love of my husband and children, there is just no way I could possibly choose a single ‘nicest thing.’ None of those things, however, holds a candle to God giving His only son, Jesus, to die for me. For me! And you, too!

When I think about Granny, my husband, and my children and all the ways they’ve expressed their love, it is easy for me to do the same right back. I wouldn’t dream of hurting their feelings or doing anything to bring them harm. Would you hurt the ones who love you? Of course, not!

Then why don’t we live by faith …”in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me” (Galatians 2:20)? Why do we do such a poor job of expressing our thanks for the one who gave everything?

Challenge: Express your thanks to God in a specific way today.
