Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Let freedom ring!”
That statement can mean different things to different people. Perhaps to some, it means they are free to come and go as they please, or free to be given the same opportunities in life as others.
Being free in Christ gives me hope. I have hope that the promise of God’s grace lies within me; hope that salvation is at hand and it cannot waver.
Being free in Christ gives joy. Joy in the knowledge that the troubles of this world are temporary, while my life goes on eternally.
Being free in Christ gives me peace. It lets me live in peace with myself. Putting my past behind me and the grace of God before me enables a peaceful spirit to fill my soul.
Being free in Christ means knowing that I was loved enough to die for, and loved enough to be forgiven.
Being free in Christ gives me the ability to spread the good news of true freedom that comes with the grace of God, through the power of Jesus Christ. Whatever is happening around us — the turmoil, the pain, the heartaches of life — can be overcome because in Christ we are truly free!
Am I free? How do I experience the liberty of the Lord?
Heavenly Lord, Thank You for letting me know that my true freedom comes through Your grace. Thank You for Your sacrifice that breaks my bonds with this world and gives me true freedom in Your world. In Jesus’ holy name I pray, Amen!
