You Are What You Sleep By

by Darla Noble

My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion: so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck. Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.

Proverbs 3:21-24

Have you ever experienced a moment when your child or grandchild takes your hand when they are scared, unsure, or in need of someone to steady their steps? I have, and I can tell you there aren’t many things that tug at your heart quite like being needed by your children—to know that they are putting their trust in you.

So what do I do at times like this? I protect them. I stead them. I reassure them. Why wouldn’t I? I love my little ones more than life itself.

God’s love for us is that same kind of love but even greater (if you can imagine that)! He is always there to protect, instruct, steady, lead, and reassure us of His presence. When you put your hand in His, and trust your heart to Him, He will be there 24/7 and you will never need to be afraid or feel alone ever again.

Prayer: Lord, let me feel your presence in my life and give me a heart that seeks Your will for my life every day of my life. In Jesus name, I pray, amen.
