Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their offspring after them, even you above all peoples, as it is today.
How many of you remember being on the playground or in gym class hoping against hope that you would be chosen sooner rather than later to be on a team? It didn’t even matter if you and your BFF ended up on the same team or not—as long as you weren’t the ‘last man standing’ in the selection process.
Being chosen is special, isn’t it? It makes us feel good, doesn’t it? Being chosen makes us feel appreciated, valued and respected.
When being chosen is earned and deserved, it’s a blessing and something we can take joy in. Unfortunately, however, often times we say or do things we shouldn’t just for the sake of being chosen. You know, things like exaggerating, cheating, flirting, and even lying. And for what? More money? Prestige? Romance? Attention?
Today I want you to think about the fact that you have already been chosen by God for the most prestigious and priceless position to be had—that of being God’s child—His chosen heir.
Nothing you can get, say, or do here on earth can even begin to compare with being God’s chosen heir–His child. So don’t let a single day go by without letting God know just how grateful you are. Live a life of thanksgiving; one that demonstrates your commitment to His family.
God, thank You for choosing me. I cannot say it enough, so I pray my life reflects my heart of gratitude. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
