Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going.
Besides encouraging you to enjoy the life God has given you, Solomon also encourages you to work diligently. The phrase, “whatever your hand finds to do” means “whatever you are able to do, you should do it with all your strength, that is, expend all your energies toward it.”
The reason for this advice is that when death comes, all opportunities for work and service will cease. In death you will have no further energies or abilities to work; there will be neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
You have only one life to live. Make sure you live each day as if it were your last and do your best for God. Live so that at the end of your life you can say, “By the grace of God, I lived my life without regret.”
Father, help me to do my best today and every day. Lead me through each moment so that all I do I do faithfully for You. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
