Need for Constant Growth

by Pastor Ken

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Does your life with Jesus reflect constant growth?

If your answer is “yes,” I salute you. If the answer is “no,” don’t be discouraged. You can start to grow from this moment and continue on throughout eternity.

Today’s verse underscores how important it is for us to grow in Christ, so perhaps it is worth looking into what makes something grow.

My wife is an enthusiastic gardener. She loves planting flowers and vegetables in the gardens around our home. I help by preparing the soil for her to plant the seeds and by fertilizing the soil so the seeds and plants will grow.

And do they ever grow! Because we tend the soil as we should, we reap the rewards of beautiful flowers to see and smell and fresh vegetables to eat and nourish our bodies.

Jesus wants to tend and fertilize the soil of your life. When you let Him, you will never stop growing. It won’t always be easy and you will have a few growing pains along the way, but it will bring such joy and contentment you will rejoice in Peter’s blessing. Once you experience constant growth, you won’t want to have it any other way!

Reflection

How does my growth in Jesus give glory to Him both now and forever?

Prayer

God, Please help me to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. Guide me to spend time in the Bible each day. Help me to be grateful to You in all circumstances. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
