This scroll of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
It was a new era for God’s people.
Moses had died. Their manna-eating, tent-dwelling, desert-living life was over. Finally, Joshua would lead them into the land God promised. They were so ready to go! They had hope. They had faith. God said they needed one more thing – His rules. They would find success in their battles, success in their endeavors, if they embodied His ways.
You are entering a new era. How is your hope for the future? How is your faith in God? Are you eager to jump in line and follow Jesus? Jesus’ life stories point the way.
We can be the Good Samaritan to our needy neighbors. We can be the merciful messiah to the adulterous woman. We can replace our judging words with encouraging ones. We can give to the poor. Like the healed leaper, we can be ready with thanks. When the storms of life rattle our boat, we can trust God to care for us.
With hope and faith and His Holy Spirit, we can find success in our new era too.
There is a Promised Land for us ahead!
