Oh come, let’s sing to the LORD. Let’s shout aloud to the rock of our salvation! Let’s come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let’s extol him with songs! For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods.
Sing to the Lord!
You cannot overestimate the power of singing songs of praise. In fact, I encourage you to praise the Lord in song as often as possible.
Make your life full of singing praises to God the Father and Jesus the Son. Fill the air around you with song: with family and friends, standing at the sink doing dishes, driving down the road in your car, in the shower — no matter where you are or what you are doing, you can lighten your heart by singing songs of praise.
It doesn’t matter what praises you choose to sing.
You can write your own song by singing the words of your favorite Bible verses to a tune you make up in your head. Sing whatever moves you! Hymns, children’s Bible songs, or the newer contemporary songs of praise and worship — all serenade our God with glorious harmonies.
Just sing.
Your song doesn’t have to be perfectly musical. It doesn’t even have to be on key. It just needs to come from a heart of praise. To God’s ears, nothing is more beautiful than hearing our hearts lifted up to Him.
If I were to write a song based on what God has done for me, what would the lyrics be?
Glorious God, Please open my heart and lips to sing praises to You every day of my life. Your blessings fill me with thankfulness. You have saved me from all my sin. You are worthy of all glory and praise! In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
