We have many means to communicate in our world today.

There are cell phones, Messenger, Facebook, text messages and many more that I do not even know exist. Yet there is nothing better than face-to-face, eye-to-eye conversation with a good old-fashioned handshake or loved one’s hugs.

In the Spring of 2020, the Corona virus shut down our weekly worship services and many businesses. Restaurants were take-out only. Many people put themselves in a panic. Shelves in the local stores were bare from people stockpiling items in demand and selling them online.

For a time, our worship services were online only, as the coronavirus threatened the health of our community, state, nation and the world we live in. I asked myself as a pastor, what can we do as a church to help people in our community?

The answer was not to stockpile and sell to make money. Reaching out and helping others remained on my mind.

Somewhere in the chaos, I stopped and listened to God, knowing that communicating with Him would better equip me to communicate with others.

Today’s Scripture promises that blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you listen to the LORD your God’s voice — no matter what challenges you face. What blessed reassurance of the gift of life!
