Waiting

by Heather Tietz

Micah 7:7

But as for me, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.

Waiting.

Waiting for the results of an exam. Waiting to hear from a doctor. Waiting for a loved one who’s late in coming. Waiting to hear about a job. Waiting for a judge’s decision. Waiting for an offer to be accepted. Waiting for the weekend. Waiting for a car ride. Waiting for dessert. Waiting for Christmas morning. We are all familiar with waiting. Perhaps much of our lives are spent in that uncomfortable spot.

But waiting is also a great place to exercise faith muscles. When we are helpless, when we can do nothing to move forward, when we have no way to climb upward, when it seems we have nothing but time to pass, time to wait on others, we can put on our spiritual workout clothes and exercise.

We can!

We can pray. We can hope. We can look with faith’s eyes and know that we really aren’t waiting for others to determine our fate, we are ultimately waiting on God. In His timing, the answers will come.

Reflection

What am I waiting on from God Who has the mightiest of all powers? To wait wisely, am I ever longing for a deeper, higher, broader understanding of Jesus?

Prayer

Heavenly Lord, I know that all things work together for good for those who love God, but sometimes I get impatient. I know You hear me as I cry out to You. Thank You for Your grace and blessings. Help me to willingly wait on You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
