“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them, for the LORD your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.”
God assures you, as He did the Israelites, that you have nothing to be afraid of — He will never leave you or forsake you. He promises to give you victory over your enemies.
Now you can willingly and faithfully follow where Jesus leads, for He promises: “I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble, but cheer up! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
John Wesley may have had this promise in mind when he said, “Give me a hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I will shake the world. I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen, and such alone will overthrow the kingdom of Satan and build up the Kingdom of God on earth.”
So, with this wonderful promise, do not pray for an easy life. Pray, instead, to be a stronger person. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your mission.
You can boldly face your life today with Jesus because courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is allowing Jesus’ leading to give you mastery over fear, just as Jesus had.
How often do I ask Jesus to give me the courage and strength to do my daily tasks as well as fulfill my lifetime mission? What might happen if I asked for His leading more often?
Dear God, Thank You for being a ready and constant source of courage. You alone are my strength. Please lead me where You want me to go. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
