The heavens are yours. The earth also is yours, the world and its fullness. You have founded them.
Today we are simply going to look at the words to an old, familiar song, “How Great Thou Art” and another passage of scripture from the book of Job. Anything else would be unnecessary. I cannot add anything to what has already been said.
Oh, LORD my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the world thy hands have made. I see the stars. I hear the rolling thunder. Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul; my Savior God to me. How great thou art. How great thou art. Then sings my soul; my Savior God to me. How great thou art. How great thou art.
God speaking to Job in Job 38:4-7 and 12-13 says: “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone—while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place, that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it?”
The universe is God’s. Let us praise Him for creation and faithfully follow His leading.
Pray: Thank you, God, for making this beautiful world. I know it is filled with sin but it still displays the amazing sense of wonder and creativity You have. Help me never forget it is all Yours and that I am Yours, as well. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
