The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let’s therefore throw off the deeds of darkness, and let’s put on the armor of light.
Every summer at church camp, one of the kids’ favorite games to play is a game we call Glow Stick Treasure Hunt.
The game, which is played after dark, divides the kids into teams. Each team is assigned a color (red, purple, etc.) Meanwhile, members of the faculty randomly scatter dozens of glow sticks around the campground.
At the signal, the campers make a mad dash to gather all the glow sticks of their team’s color and take them to their home base.
Once they get all the glow sticks to their home base, they have to use the light from the sticks to reveal a clue as to where they’ll find their team’s banner. The first team to be able to read the message by the light of the glowsticks, find their banner, and have it waving from their home base wins.
The light from a bunch of glowsticks isn’t much, but it’s enough to get the job done. The light of life, which is Jesus, is more than enough. It shows us everything we need to know, points us on the right way to go, and shines brightly enough to illuminate what we are doing wrong.
Let Jesus’ light shine on and through you today!
Am I using the light of Jesus to show me the way I should live? What areas of my life need to be examined more closely by His light?
Dear God, Thank You for sending Jesus to be my glowing light. Please give me the courage to follow His light and to make Him my life always. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
