You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.
God’s kindness is often displayed in His blessings.
His blessings are associated with His favor and protection. Often, we look for blessings to fall from heaven, not realizing that many of them are staring us in the face. Every day, the blessings of God can be seen and felt because everything He does is laced with love, thoughtfulness, and compassion. Yet, many of God’s blessings are conditional and depend on our obedience.
In Exodus 23, God promises to bless the Israelites if they choose to follow Him in obedience. God admonishes them not to follow the surrounding nations in idolatry, but to seek Him in sincerity. He desires heartfelt worship and loyalty. If His people choose to honor Him in obedience, He graciously promises to shower them with blessings.
Our obedience to God is linked to our blessings from God. God loves to lavish us with blessings and all He asks in return is a heart focused on doing His will.
God is eager to bless you beyond your wildest dreams. He desires to embrace you with His favor because, in the eyes of God, you matter. God knows your truest joy will be found in a loving relationship with Him, so He asks for your for obedience in exchange for His blessings.
Heavenly King, Thank You that through Your Holy Spirit, I am able to obey You and enjoy a loving relationship with You. Thank You for Your countless blessings. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
What is God telling me today about my obedience to Him? For what blessings do I routinely thank Him?
