I hate it when my phone’s battery dies during a conversation and my phone stops working.

During those moments, all I can do is plug my phone into the outlet and wait for it to recharge. I busy myself with mundane activities, all the while waiting for enough battery life to resume my conversation.

Sometimes my relationship with God reminds me of my uncharged cell phone. Just as the phone needs to be plugged into an outlet to be recharged, so do I need to be connected to God in order to thrive. But sometimes, if I’m honest, I’m running on empty because I’ve placed worshiping God on the back burner.

Instead of engaging in heartfelt worship of the one and only saving God, I tend to get distracted by the cares of life and my worship is divided.

God delights in our worship of Him and Him alone. Our only solace and security are to be plugged into God. He is deserving of our worship and devotion.

In this world, there’s always the temptation to worship ourselves and things that give us instant gratification. But just like a cell phone needs to be plugged in to be charged, we need to connect to God, worshiping Him, to be spiritually alive.
