Five Simple Ways to Spend More Time With God

by Ami Hendrickson

Genesis 5:24

Enoch walked with God, and he was not found, for God took him.

Only seven generations after Adam and Eve were created, Enoch was born.

He entered a world reeling under the burden of sin. A world that had been created for eternal perfection now had to cope with the horrors of evil.

Yet Enoch walked with God.

He spent so much time with his Heavenly Father, that God determined he was better off away from this damaged planet. So God “took him” (Genesis 5:24).

Imagine spending so much time in God’s presence that, like Enoch, our sinful nature is no longer found! What a joyous transformation!

If you want to spend more time with God, here are five easy ways to do so:

1.) Make meditation and worship part of your daily routine. “Because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because His compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23).

2.) Memorize one Bible verse a day. Daily Bible Inspiration verses are a great place to start!

3.) Spend intentional time in nature. Immerse yourself in God’s “second book.”

4.) Identify blessings as you experience them. Speak them aloud and praise God for them. “Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His. Give thanks to His holy name” (Psalm 30:4).

5.) Dive deep in prayer. Talk to God when driving or commuting. Let His Spirit transform you as you share yourself with Him.

Reflection

How often do God and I walk together? What keeps me from walking with Him more?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Please walk with me. Transform me, so those who look at me see only You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
