God’s work involves everyone. It includes both young and old.

Recently, my seven-year-old daughter expressed her desire to start a homeless ministry. At first, I thought of all the reasons why it wouldn’t work. For starters, we just moved to a new city during a worldwide pandemic. But then it hit me: what if God wanted us to work together?

The Bible is clear. Inter-generational collaborations are important to advancing His kingdom.

There are so many examples in the Bible of young leaders making a positive impact. As a young shepherd boy, David defeated Goliath. Then there was little Samuel, who heard God’s voice in the dead of night. At only eight, Josiah became an exceptional king. All of these young people had a common thread in their lives: a mentor. They had someone who worked alongside them to help them fulfill God’s purpose.

When it comes to those of us who are aging, we may think that our usefulness has reached an expiration date. However, the story of Moses being called into leadership as an elderly man shows us that God’s work includes all ages.

My friend, whether you’re young or old, God’s workforce includes you because when young and old come together in God’s name, a dynamic duo occurs.
