I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither do I have rest; but trouble comes.
My wife has terminal liver disease.
She has a lot of pain almost every day, yet she never gives up. She is not yet bedridden and remains active. Every so often, the doctors drain the fluid that has built up in and around her stomach, giving her temporary relief.
When a CAT scan and MRI detected cancer, mapping the cancer’s exact location enabled particular radiation to be performed. Multiple radiation treatments formed scar tissue around the cancer and stopped it from growing.
We took many long drives to the hospital, stayed in many hotel rooms, and endured many tests to determine the extent of her health issues. We understand that without a mighty miracle from God, there is no earthly cure for her condition.
So often during this journey, my wife has felt like Job.
The devil plagued Job, yet God remained in his heart. Job cried with pain and, at times, felt like giving up. His friends could not fully understand what he was going through.
Just like Job, my wife has God in her heart. Though plagued with many health issues, she believes that God will take care of her, if not in this world, then in the next.
Her quiet faith inspires many and gives her the strength to rest in God’s hands.
How does God’s quiet peace give me rest, especially when I know that my future on this earth holds trouble and turmoil?
Gracious God, Thank You for quiet closure. Thank You for Your promises of guidance and renewal Your strength enables me to remain strong in the midst of turmoil. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
