I love autumn.

In my opinion, it’s the best season of the year. The thing I like most about it is the change in the weather. My favorite days are windy ones. When the wind rustles its fingers through the trees, they seem to sing with gladness.

Each fall my church hosts a charity event called “Thanksgiving Baskets.” Groups of people go to different neighborhoods and pass out paper bags with notes on them asking for food donations to give to people who need some help for Thanksgiving.

One time, on the day we went to pick the bags up, it was cool and windy: my favorite kind of days. It was so beautiful outside, and I felt so fulfilled and at peace, I just had to start singing or else my heart might burst from happiness.

I sang “How Great Thou Art,” and with the wind blowing through the leaves of the trees, it seemed as if all creation were singing with me. At that moment I was filled with such joy and contentment. I was doing what we were all made to do: singing praises to our Creator.

When we seek God in His Word, in prayer, or even in song, we’re seeking to know Him better. And in that, our hearts can truly rejoice.
